Try something new this year..
If you have ever wondered about Scuba diving, but felt it was way out of your reach, too expensive or just down right bizarre, well think again. We at the University Of Portsmouth Sub Aqua Club have a challenge waiting for you.
Come along and find us at this years Freshers Fair in Ravlin Park, just behind the Students Union. Have a chat, and even book in for a try dive, we ‘dare you.’ We will be easy to find, just look for the shiny boat filled with divers.
To us a diver is a diver, if you are new to the sport or a seasoned sea dog we have something to offer and welcome divers from all agencies (BSAC, CMAS, PADI etc) Our club is based on the foundation of diving backed up with a healthy social life which we modestly regard as the best within the university. To us this is more than just a sport; we like to think of ourselves as an extended family.
We have been affiliated with the Students Union for over 30 years and have grown and exceed an annual membership of 100 divers. We run training programs starting at entry level for complete beginners through to nationally qualified Instructor status. With this wealth of experience and heritage we offer training with BSAC (the British Sub Aqua Club) using our own Instructors, most of who, actually began their diving career and qualified within this very club. As a thank you all the instructors give up their time for free to teach and as such we are able to offer hugely reduced training costs and pass these saving onto you, the students.
During the last few years we have been world wide as a club including past and future trips to the Red Sea, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Iceland and Norway, not to mention the many trips all around the British coastal waters including the Newquay, Scilly Isles, Oban, Scapa Flow, the final resting place of the German WWI High Seas Fleet and many other places you’ll just have to ask us about. Of course we also run many smaller trips including our successful Sunday dive program for qualified divers of all levels and experience.
